Our little chunk!

Anna went in for her two month check up yesterday and passed with flying colors. The nurse said that she was in the 95th percentile for weight and in the 75th percentile for length! That's our big girl! She weighed in at 13lbs 11oz and after we left we realized that the nurse never said how long she was, so I don't know an updated length for her. But she's packing on the pounds like a champ!

We gave her a bath today and I had to take a picture of her as daddy was getting her undressed so you all could see her adorable rolls everywhere. She's going to hate that picture when she gets older. :)

As great as it was to hear that Anna was just the perfect little baby at the doctor's office yesterday, it was a hard day on all of us. She had her first round of immunizations and lets just say that daddy and the nurse were the only ones with dry eyes in the room. My heart hurt for our little angel...she was screaming during the shots and it was the first time that we've actually seen tears. Once we got home, you could just tell that she wasn't quite herself. I don't think she ever got a fever, but I think she was achy and just not feeling good. It was pretty hard to get a smile out of her and any little thing would make her cry. Plus, she usually likes to be up and moving around with one of us holding her but last night Dane and I were watching a movie and Anna woke up from a nap and just sat on my lap and leaned against me for about 45 minutes without fussing at all. That doesn't happen much anymore! She's also been sleeping more than usual and even into today we can tell that she's not back to her usual self. The nurse gave us some infant tylenol just in case, and we've used it a couple times and that seems to make her feel better for a while. So yeah, it's been a tough couple of days and I'm certainly not looking forward to her checkups for the next year or so...I believe the shots continue through 18 months or something like that. Hopefully our little girl will be back to her smiley, squealy self in no time.

Oh, glorious sleep!

Well, in case you couldn't tell from the title of this blog, our little Anna is becoming quite the marathon sleeper! Last night, I put her to bed around 8:45 pm and she didn't wake up to eat until 4:00 am! This is a first! After that feeding, she didn't wake up again until about 9:00 am. I'm telling you, I had kind of forgotten that "well rested" feeling, but I woke up at 9:00 feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed! The night before that was a really great one as well...she only woke up twice. We've made a few changes that might be making her sleep better. We been noticing that by the time she wakes up in the morning she's so congested it's hard for her to breathe. So I arranged her bassinet so that the side her head is on is elevated slightly, plus I bought a humidifier for our room and I think that those two things have solved the problem. Ever since, her sleeping has drastically improved. Yay for us!! :)

Today was Anna's first Valentine's Day, and it was pretty laid back. We got up and made daddy breakfast (a Denver omlette and oj) and then she napped and then got a bath and was dressed her in her Valentine's outfit (I attached a picture for you all to see). She looked pretty darn cute. After that daddy fed her for the first time with a bottle and she took it like a champ. I've been pumping for about a week to prepare for going back to work and we finally had a chance to introduce a bottle today. We're going to have Dane feed her once a day so that she's use to it when I'm at work. Dane LOVED being able to feed her and she's super snuggly after she eats, so he loved all the snuggles too! :) I think it's going to work out great for everyone involved. It's kind of nice knowing that if I need to go run a few errands I don't HAVE to be back within two hours to feed her. And I think that is going to be a wonderful bonding experience for Dane and Anna.

So speaking of work...I go back on March 3rd. It's really hard to believe that it will already be 12 weeks--I really don't know where the time has gone. Honestly, it's going to be very hard to leave her for a whole work day and I'm dreading that day when it comes. I suppose I should focus on the positive side which is that Dane will be able to be with her during the day since he works in the evenings. So that means no daycare for us which is HUGE! It's very important to both of us that we don't have to go that route, so we feel very fortunate. All I know is that my car is not going to get me home fast enough at the end of the day. :)

It was Dane's 31st birthday yesterday and Anna and I took him out to dinner last night to celebrate. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he said that he wanted to be able to go to Michigan in April for a reunion for his fraternity that he was in during college. More than anything it will be a chance for him to see a couple of his good buddies that he hasn't seen in a few years. So he got a trip for his birthday. :) He should have a blast and I think Anna and I are going to take a road trip to my parent's house for that weekend, so we'll all have something to look forward to.

Happy Valentine's Day to me!!

Have I mentioned lately how wonderful my husband is? If you missed it, I LOVE my husband! He is so good to me! On Tuesday he surprised me with an early Valentine's Day treat and had arranged for us to have an hour long couples massage! We had his mom come over and stay with Anna (first time both of us have been away from her together!) for the couple hours we were gone and as much as we both missed her, the massage was heaven! We first got to start off with a 15 minute soak in a hot tub and then the hour long relaxation massage was just what I needed. It was a wonderful treat and I appreciate Dane's thoughtfulness to plan it for me. He has always been so good about doing things to make me feel loved and appreciated and he's done it yet again.

It sounds like Anna was a good girl for Nana while we were away, but we got home right in the knick of time to feed her...she was on the verge of a hunger meltdown! And I think both Dane and I were ready to snuggle our little angel...we missed her!

Anna is getting bigger by the day and is so stinkin' adorable. She's got some big ol' cheeks, a buddah belly, and some seriously chubby thighs! And it couldn't be cuter! I'm anxious for her two month appointment at the end of the month to see how much she weighs. I had a doctor's appt. the other day and I brought her with me, and while I was waiting to get my blood drawn another new mom came in with her baby and sat down. She picked up her daughter out of her carseat and I said "Aw, congratulations, how new is she?" (Thinking maybe two or three weeks old). She said, "Oh she was born on Christmas Eve". Holy smokes! Anna is like three times her size and only a week older! I'm not even kidding, it made me laugh to see the two of them next to each other. And Anna seemed so much more in control of herself...the other baby still seemed very much like a newborn, and Anna has really good neck and head control and she smiles and coos a lot. It's so much fun to see her growing...listen to me...already bragging about my daughter! :)

So I got some good news from my doctor...that blood draw I went in for was a follow up to me having gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. They did another glucose test to see if my body is back processing sugars correctly and they just called me this morning and said that everything is back to normal and my results looked great. I couldn't be more relieved! It's so nice not to have to worry about that anymore...until the next pregnancy, I guess! :)

So you all will be getting a picture of her for your refridgerator doors...and it'd better be up if I come over to your house! :)
